Smokey's Story

Smokey was surrendered to Taranaki Animal Protection Trust after being diagnosed with epilepsy. This is a rare condition in cats and her family felt that they didn't have the funds or experience to give Smokey the best possible chance at a good life. It was a heart breaking decision for them but probably the right one as her condition is severe & she needs a very high level of care.
Her foster carer has been with her through multiple seizures and has spent a lot of time (and money!) at the vets trying to get her stabilized on medication! She has had longer periods (2-4 weeks) without seizures but unfortunately hasn't stabilized enough to re-home yet.
Smokey has some lasting neurological damage from her seizures, meaning she's a bit of a wobbly girl and her back legs aren't very stable. This does not stop her and she still loves to play with the other foster kitties she lives with!
She is a super sweet & smoochy girl and we are so excited to raise some money to help with her vet bills!
Our fundraising goal & another smokey update coming soon!!
